'Torflow' Key Benefits
|
The PSM Torflow is an averaging multi-port pitot tube which produces a differential pressure output proportional to the square of the flow. It may be coupled with a differential pressure transmitter to give an electrical signal output, or simply piped to a differential pressure gauge or manometer to give a direct reading of the flow rate.
Each Torflow is individually sized to span the full width of the pipe, the measuring holes being spaced to give an accurate sample of the complete flow profile. A secondary inner tube then averages the impact velocity. The static pressure in the line is measured through a single hole positioned centrally on the downstream side of the probe, a profiling reducing turbulence and ensuring a stable pressure area.
The Torflow offers minimal obstruction in the line compared with many other methods of flow measurement. This feature provides a high percentage of pressure recovery and high flow range turndown.
The averaging of the flow enables shorter straight upstream and downstream pipe runs without downgrading the accuracy. Coupled with simplicity of installation and resistance to wear this provides a cost effective alternative to orifice plates.
A comprehensive range of accessories, optional mounting arrangements and materials are available to suit specific applications, these can normally be tailor made to suit customer requirements.
