SOLAS regulation 59.1 effective July 1998 requires that a secondary means of allowing full flow of vapour, air, or inert gas is provided in the event that the primary arrangement fails. Alternatively, and more cost effectively (especially where retrofit is required) the regulation allows that pressure sensors may be fitted to each tank and their outputs routed to a monitoring system in the Cargo control room which will provide an alarm in the event of over / under pressure condition.
PSM's System is designed to fully meet the above requirement. The pressure transmitters are developed from our widely used & specified hydrostatic level transmitters and are Type Approval by many Marine classification societies. They may also be used in Hazardous Areas when fitted with appropriate safety barriers. A choice of display & control units are offered depending upon the number of tanks to be monitored . The status of all inputs is shown on an LCD display and relay outputs are provided for repeat audible & visual alarms.
|
The transmitter is in two parts, a reference ported sensor which is fully protected against positive or negative overloads, and submersion, and a separate electronics module which can be located at a point convenient for routine calibration checks. The sensor is available with a choice of flanged or threaded fittings for installation directly to the tank top or piping into the venting system. PSM specialise in Shipboard instrumentation and can draw upon 20 years experience and application knowledge when considering the optimum design for a particular application. We will be pleased to discuss your requirements
