TANKVIEW
Tank gauging system for Umoe Sterkoder’s newbuilding no. 190 the MFV ATLANTIC DAWN.
THE WORLDS LARGEST MULTIFUNCTIONAL VESSEL
Trawler - Carrier - Factory Ship
The system includes 55 x PSM 260 level transmitters and the computer based display system ”Tankview” . Information is collected using Advantech Inc.’s ADAM 4017 8 channel analogue/digital converter and transmitted to the main computer via RS485 network. In total there are 10 ADAM 4017’s around the vessel, these I/O modules also converts the temperature signals in 25 tanks. The yard has made substantial savings on man hours and cable costs over traditional pneumatic system installations. |
Tankview displays volume and temperature in a graphic layout on three different pages. There are two pages for all tank levels and one for all temperatures. Every tank also includes a temperature sensor, it's value is linked into the ”tank object” and densities are calculated dependant on temperature in the media.
All levels and temperatures are sent via RS422 serial communication to a main alarm system.
The owner wanted the traditional bubbler system initially, however the yard worked hard to convince them that the Tankview system was a much better solution. After presentation last year and the handover in June the owner now sees all the benefits this system gives compared to the bubbler system.
The system has now been working for 5 months without any problems even after EO classification tests, docking and other shipyard work including some black-outs and a lot of other work that can cause problems to computer equipment etc..
Thank you!
